Tasting Notes

The Domaine de la Charbonnière Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc is a highly regarded white wine from the Southern Rhône valley, standing out as a rare and complex offering in an appellation famously dominated by red wines. It is crafted by a historic, family-run estate founded in 1912, now expertly managed by the family’s fourth generation, sisters Véronique and Caroline Maret.

The wine is traditionally made from a meticulous blend of three native grape varieties harvested from vines averaging over 40 years old. 40% Roussanne, 40% Grenache Blanc 20% Clairette. The grapes are sourced from two distinct terroirs that bring exquisite balance. Mourre des Perdrix, featuring sandy soils that impart vibrant freshness and floral lift, and Brusquières, a northern plot covered in large rounded stones (galets roulés) and clay that lends weight, density, and structure to the final blend.
