Tasting Notes
Domaine Lyrarakis ‘Voila’ Assyrtiko is an exceptional, terroir-driven white wine from Crete, Greece, offering a fascinating and slightly richer alternative to the famous, razor-sharp Assyrtikos of Santorini. Produced by the Lyrarakis Winery—a family estate founded in 1966 and renowned for reviving indigenous Cretan grape varieties—this wine showcases the unique potential of eastern Crete.
The grapes are hand-harvested. Modern vintages typically undergo a cold skin-contact period for added texture. A portion utilizes spontaneous fermentation, and a small percentage (around 12%) is aged in oak for a few months to introduce structure without overpowering the fruit.
Crisp green apple, pear, and lime zest mixed with white floral notes, subtle ginger, and fresh green herbs.
